The aim of this programme is to provide students with solid foundations in the area of textile technologies and possibilities of textile and clothing production in relation to the common disciplines of art and aesthetics. The graduates find employment in the profession of a designer of textiles, clothing, textile and interior accessories, or in the profession of a jewellery and bijou designer. Because of their wide knowledge and skills they can be employed in various industry lines, trade and marketing. Their prime employers are enterprises focused on textile and clothing productions. Other possible employment is in companies focused on computer graphics, designing centres, promoting and marketing agencies, and so on.

The concept of the DESIGN study here is based not only on the creative activity itself, but also on the search for new ways of artistic processing of materials and non-traditional realization of products, thanks to the technological possibilities of the entire faculty. The study provides three specializations:

1) Design of Textiles and Clothing

2) Design of Glass and Jewellery (not opened in English)

3) Textile Technology and Patterning (not opened in English)

Students in the focus with higher support of art subjects, Textile and Clothing Design, Glass and Jewelry Design, can create in parallel with students of the more technologically oriented field of Textile Technology and Patterning. The composition of the studio includes art subjects (Drawing, Painting for design, Studio work, etc.), specialist technological subjects (Weaving of fabric patterns, Construction and modeling of clothes, Glass and jewelry knowledge, etc.) and subjects of additional theoretical basis (History of visual culture, Theory of colors) , computer design, etc.). In comparison with universities of a similar focus, this concept, combined with the unique technological equipment of all workplaces, is absolutely unique. The department offers students the opportunity to grasp and explore their work in all its aspects.
